Ballparks (1870 to date)

“This afternoon at Ogden Park, occurs the first match game played in Chicago by the White Stockings, whose opponents will be the Amateur Club, of this city.” —Chicago Tribune, May 21, 1870

Many Cubs fans think that their team has always played at Wrigley Field.  That ballpark dates back “only” to 1914, for before that the club played at a variety of fields.  The Chicago White Stockings (who later became the Cubs) first played  at the city’s Ogden Park, at the foot of Ontario Street, and later at Dexter Park, at 42nd and Halsted Streets.

This map is an attempt to pinpoint the locations (and dates) of all of the team’s ballparks.
